Your Summer Escape to the Hamptons: New Hotels, Hot Tables, and Must-See Events
The annual Memorial Day scramble is on: do you fly out on a helicopter or sit through Friday’s traffic? As New York’s social scene packs its bags for the East End, here is your cheat sheet for the Hamptons this summer, from fresh places to sleep to the restaurants and parties you won’t want to miss.
In Montauk, LDV Hospitality opens Barlume Beach Montauk, a 19-room property with a beach club, marina, and a Mediterranean restaurant overlooking the harbor. Nearby, the former Sunset Montauk has been reborn as Hotel Corduroy, a 29-room boutique spot with private beach access. Up in Sag Harbor, the old Baron’s Cove is now Faraway Sag Harbor, a 67-room waterfront hotel opening in June with an Amalfi Coast-inspired restaurant called Zagara. Later this summer, the Greenporter in Greenport becomes Oyster Estate, a 34-room hotel with a pool and cocktail bar, Fortune Favors.
Dining news is just as buzzy. Maison Close brings its Parisian flair to the Capri Southampton with seafood and steak frites. In East Hampton, Lion’s Nook opens as an English pub from the team behind Springs Tavern. Camp Rubirosa, the SoHo Italian favorite, returns to 31 Race Lane for good. At The Roundtree in Bridgehampton, Nourish serves Balinese-inspired dishes from chef Dewa Wijaya. In Sag Harbor, Babe’s Diner offers a 14-seat retro breakfast and lunch spot, while Miracle on Main Street delivers New American fare year-round.
For events, the summer calendar is packed. LongHouse Reserve kicks off June 27 with its Beautopia benefit honoring Sean Scully and Bruce Horten. The Parrish Museum’s Midsummer gala on July 18 features solo shows by Sanford Biggers and Tony Bechara. The Watermill Center’s Summer Festival (July 24–25) marks its first season since Robert Wilson’s passing, with the theme “Limitless Time.” The Hampton Classic horse show runs Aug. 23–30 in Bridgehampton. And the Surf Lodge in Montauk is back with live acts including Sheryl Crow, St. Lucia, and Teddy Swims closing out Labor Day weekend.
