Yaroslavl Region Tourism Tax Revenue Jumps Nearly 30%

Tourism tax revenue in Russia's Yaroslavl Region climbed almost 30% over the past year, Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said.
Writing on his channel on the Max platform, Yevrayev said a meeting of the regional Duma's relevant committee examined the development of the tourism sector. In 2025, 13.2 million people visited the region, the governor reported.
"Along with the number of guests, the economics of the sector are growing too. Over the year, spending and cash withdrawals in the region totaled 39.6 billion rubles - 30% more than in 2024. Tax revenue rose by 29%. This is money that stays in the Yaroslavl Region and goes toward developing our cities and municipal districts," Yevrayev said.
The governor called tourism development a powerful driver for the entire economy and an additional source of income for the regional budget, noting that new projects create jobs, modern infrastructure and opportunities for local business.
According to Yevrayev, tourism growth helps attract additional federal funds and private investment, with new hotels being built, restaurants opening and services expanding. Transport infrastructure development, territory improvements and the creation of pedestrian centers in cities are also boosting visitor numbers.
Svetlana Kostyshina, the region's minister of culture and tourism, said systematic work on tourism is turning the Yaroslavl Region into a territory for comfortable and varied recreation. The region ranks 10th in the sustainable development rating for tourism attractiveness among Russian regions and leads the Central Federal District for stays at sanatorium and resort organizations, she said.
