WorldPride 2026 Sets the Stage in Amsterdam: What Travelers Can Expect

For the first time, Amsterdam will host WorldPride, the massive LGBTQ+ celebration that draws hundreds of thousands to its host city every few years. Organizers chose the Dutch capital for 2026, marking 26 years since the Netherlands legalized same-sex marriage and 25 years since the first official wedding ceremony. The event, run by InterPride, has previously touched down in London, Toronto, Madrid, and Sydney—and now it’s Amsterdam’s turn to welcome the crowds.

This year’s edition runs from July 25 to August 8, 2026, under the theme of Unity. The program is packed: a Pride Walk from Dam to Vondelpark, a sprawling Pride Park, street parties across a dozen venues, a Canal Parade on August 1 along the Nieuwe Herengracht and Prinsengracht, and a Human Rights Conference at Beurs van Berlage. The grand finale includes a WorldPride March from Martin Luther Kingpark to Museumplein and a closing concert. Organizers say they want Amsterdam to shine as a beacon of togetherness at a time when freedoms are under threat elsewhere.

Three standout experiences are worth booking early. Rosewood Amsterdam’s Canal Party on August 1 offers front-row views of the Canal Parade from a private deck, with DJs, live performances, and cocktails—tickets start at €200 for hotel guests and €275 for outsiders. On July 31, Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam teams up with Aruba for a Pride cocktail party in a disco-lit courtyard, with a lineup of performers; entry is €76.50. And from July 25 to August 9, Pulitzer Amsterdam hosts “Velvet Scars – A Kingdom of Courage,” a free exhibition by photographer Jasper Abels exploring identity and self-expression through couture portraits. Next up, Cape Town will host WorldPride 2028.
