Wildberries' First Hotel in Egypt Gets Mixed Reviews from Russian Guests

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, March 9 – The first hotel launched by Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries has opened its doors in Egypt, drawing initial visitors from its home market. The WB Travel Dreams Vacation hotel, a four-star property developed with tour operator FUN&SUN, began welcoming guests in mid-February at this Red Sea resort.
Early reviews from Russian tourists, shared with our correspondent, paint a picture of a promising but imperfect debut. Guests consistently praised the quality and variety of food in the hotel restaurants and commended the staff for being friendly and responsive.
Lydia, a guest in late February, said the Wildberries brand name attracted her. "The hotel is decent. The food selection is luxurious, and the staff are kind," she noted. However, she pointed out ongoing construction on the grounds and a lack of clear schedules for daily activities and entertainment.
Another visitor, Veronika, echoed the positive remarks on dining and pool quality but expressed disappointment with her room. "The only thing that upset me was the room. We didn't get what was promised," she said. While she confirmed that hotel personnel acted quickly to address issues, the experience left a mark. "There's a lingering feeling after paying for a vacation and not getting the room you expected."
Both guests felt the property generally met its four-star rating, while suggesting the room inventory and some operational details need refinement. The opening marks Wildberries' ambitious step into the competitive Egyptian tourism market, betting on its brand recognition with Russian travelers.
