Why Vietnam Is Winning Over Russian Tourists: Cheaper Than Turkey, More Vibrant Than Thailand

A Russian travel blogger has captured why Vietnam is becoming a top choice for tourists from the country, calling it "cheaper than Turkey, more colorful than Thailand." Writing on his personal blog "Flying Ourselves" on the Yandex.Zen platform, he noted that the number of Russian visitors to Vietnam keeps climbing. The main draws? Affordable prices and easy travel connections. Direct flights are now available not just from Moscow but from several other Russian cities, with round-trip tickets from the capital to Nha Trang costing as little as 8,000 to 15,000 rubles.

"With inflation hitting European resorts and prices rising sharply in Turkey and Thailand, Vietnam remains a pocket-friendly haven," the blogger explained. A massive bowl of the iconic pho bo soup costs just 150 to 200 rubles. Hotels and apartments are also budget-friendly, with many offering sea views or rooftop pools. The blogger emphasized that the country offers a stable pricing environment that stands out in today’s travel market.

Beyond the low costs, Vietnam delivers variety. Tourists can pick a resort to match any preference—whether it’s a bustling beach town or a quiet coastal escape—without worrying about safety. The blogger noted the locals are welcoming and warm. However, not all feedback has been glowing. A Russian traveler recently described the sea as "a disappointment," and some have called the long flight to Nha Trang exhausting. Still, for many, Vietnam’s mix of value and charm is hard to beat.
