Why June is the Smartest Month to Book Your Vacation

If you're planning a getaway this summer, a Russian economist suggests you aim for June—especially the first half of the month. Professor Sergei Tolkachev of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation told Lenta.ru that early summer offers a sweet spot for travelers looking to save money and avoid crowds.
"In June, especially at the beginning, the vacation season is just starting," Tolkachev explained. "Most people schedule their holidays for July and August, when the weather is hottest and most reliable. That means beaches, landmarks, and transport are far less crowded. With fewer people around, you get better service for the same price."
The professor points out that tour operators typically raise prices during peak demand months. Booking in June helps you sidestep those surcharges. Plus, early-bird discount programs for flights and accommodations are still available at the start of summer, offering significant savings.
Tolkachev sums it up: "June gives you a rare combination—decent weather, lower prices compared to the peak season, early-booking discounts, and fewer tourists. All of that makes it a financially smart time to plan a vacation."
So if you can swing it, pack your bags in June. Your wallet—and your sanity—will thank you.
