Where Was 'Sterling Point' Filmed? The Teen Drama Puts Ontario's Lake Country on Screen

The new Prime Video series 'Sterling Point' is drawing attention not just for its young-adult drama, but for its setting: the show was filmed in and around Lake Muskoka, Ontario, between June and October, staying true to its fictional location rather than swapping it for another region.

The plot follows Annie (Ella Rubin) and her brother Connor (Keen Ruffalo), who, after a New York City upbringing, inherit an island in Muskoka from a grandfather they never knew. Annie heads north to spend a Canadian summer and uncover answers about her late mother's connection to the area.

Creator and co-showrunner Megan Park said the production aimed to showcase Muskoka authentically, including its history of Indigenous land dispossession, generational cottage owners, and newer arrivals building multimillion-dollar homes. Executive producer Dani Gorin noted the series deliberately contrasts Annie's urban life with the region's natural beauty and explores class divides and gentrification.

Filming relied on director of photography Kristen Correll, who had worked with Park before and knew how to shoot on water, according to Gorin. Notable on-location spots include Mortimer's Marina, which offers boat services and a summer café, and Sparrow Lake Camp, a summer camp operating since 1912, though the area was settled by Indigenous Canadians centuries earlier.

'Sterling Point' is now streaming on Prime Video.
