Where to Hang Your Hat in Dallas: 19 Hotels That Get the Big D Right

When I landed in Dallas about ten years ago, I figured I had the place pegged. Pop culture primes you for big hair, bigger egos, and cowboy boots in the boardroom. And sure, that’s part of it. But as this North Texas sprawl keeps growing at a dizzying clip, the city refuses to be summed up in one visit. So if you’re looking for a place to stay, you’ve got to be smart about it.
Coming to see the Cowboys or catch World Cup matches in 2026? Head toward Arlington. Chasing Michelin-starred meals? Uptown is your launchpad. Craving green space? Come to my corner of East Dallas, where White Rock Lake offers sailing, a nine-mile trail, and the Arboretum. Wherever you land, these 19 hotels will help you plan your stay.
Our top picks: Virgin Hotels Dallas for views, The Ritz-Carlton in Las Colinas for families, and Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek for a romantic escape.
First time in town? Downtown gives you the most options and easy access to big attractions. For walkable streets and neighborhood charm, try Uptown or Turtle Creek. Foodies should head to Oak Cliff’s Bishop Avenue or Lower Greenville. Families often like the resort-style perks in Las Colinas or Frisco. And design lovers will find plenty to admire in the Design District and Arts District.
Sports fans, pick your venue. Arlington has AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field; the Loews Arlington is steps from both. Frisco puts you near the Cowboys’ practice facility and FC Dallas. For Mavericks or Stars games, the W Dallas - Victory is closest to the American Airlines Center, while Hôtel Swexan is a ten-minute walk. Trinity FC fans can stay at The Adolphus, a six-minute drive from the Cotton Bowl.
How long should you stay? A weekend works if you stick downtown. Give yourself a week or more if you want to explore the neighborhoods, suburbs, or Fort Worth.
