Where Russians Are Traveling This June: Belarus, Turkey, and a Surge in Asia

Moscow, May 21 – If you’re wondering where Russian tourists are heading this June, the answer spans from familiar neighbors to far-flung corners of Asia. According to data from the online booking platform Ostrovok, the top ten international destinations for Russian travelers in June include Belarus, Turkey, Abkhazia, Georgia, Armenia, Italy, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Japan, and Thailand.
What stands out this year is the sharp uptick in bookings for Asian countries. South Korea saw a doubling of reservations compared to last year. Indonesia jumped 61%, Vietnam climbed 74%, and China rose 53%. It’s a clear sign that Russian tourists are increasingly looking east for their summer getaways.
But the old favorites haven’t lost their appeal. Countries with direct flights and no visa hassles remain strong. Georgia reported a 31% increase in bookings, Armenia rose 22%, and even Italy—a classic European choice—saw a 40% bump. Turkey, always a staple, grew 17%.
On average, travelers are paying about 8,300 rubles per night for hotels and apartments abroad. International trips now make up 18% of all June bookings through Ostrovok—roughly one in five reservations. The other 82% still go to domestic destinations within Russia, a trend that continues from May.
For those planning a trip, the data suggests a mix of the familiar and the adventurous, with Asia emerging as the big winner this season.
