A traditional wedding celebration in Turkey's Denizli province took a devastating turn when a 15-year-old boy accidentally wounded 11 people with a shotgun. The incident occurred during a ceremonial send-off for the bride, when the teenager attempted to fire the gun into the air as a festive gesture. However, the shotgun blast ricocheted off the ground, injuring 11 guests. Fortunately, all the injured were rushed to the hospital and are reported to be out of danger. Two of them were later transferred to medical facilities in Denizli for further treatment. The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are questioning the teenager. This tragic event highlights the risks associated with a long-standing tradition in some Turkish regions, where celebratory gunfire is common at weddings and other festivities. Despite regular warnings from the authorities, such incidents continue to occur, resulting in numerous casualties every year. The Turkish authorities have pledged to increase control over the illegal use of firearms at public events to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
