Vologda Region’s Hospitality Training Program Adds Two New Modules
The Vologda Region has wrapped up two more modules of its “Hospitable Vologda Region” training program, held in the town of Kirillov. The initiative, aimed at tourism professionals, students in related fields, and local entrepreneurs, focuses on blending academic theory with real-world practice.
Governor Georgy Filimonov said the first day of the sessions introduced participants to digital tools for tourism, while the second day covered communication strategies and improving the visitor experience. Instructors from the Russian State University for the Humanities and lecturers from the Russian Society “Znanie” led the coursework. Beyond the classroom, attendees took guided tours of Kirillov and the historic Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery complex.
The program, called the “Hospitable Vologda Region” workshop, is free and organized as a series of traveling sessions. It combines solid academic foundations with practical case studies and modern teaching methods. The first round of training kicked off successfully in Vologda on February 27. The next modules are scheduled for May 13–14 in Totma. Upon completion, participants will undergo certification and present their own projects publicly.
The Vologda Region Tourism Information Center is coordinating this professional development effort under the national “Tourism and Hospitality” project.
