Vietnam Takes the Crown as Asia’s Top Summer Getaway for 2026

If you’re planning a summer escape to Asia next year, Vietnam should be at the top of your list. Travel expert Maya Kotlyar, founder of MAYEL Travel, has declared the Southeast Asian nation the most sought-after destination for summer 2026, based on data from the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
According to Kotlyar, Vietnam already accounts for 48.1 percent of all tour sales to Asia. China comes in second with 25.2 percent, followed by Thailand at 19.9 percent. Indonesia also holds a modest share at 5.4 percent.
What’s driving the shift? Kotlyar points to Vietnam’s aggressive push into high-quality hotel projects that offer what she calls “premium Turkey prices from a few years ago.” Meanwhile, Thailand, with its steep price hikes, is starting to lose its edge.
For the hottest bookings this season, Kotlyar highlights Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Cam Ranh. Summertime there means comfortable weather, with temperatures climbing to around 30 degrees Celsius.
For budget-conscious travelers, a separate analysis shows Armenia as the cheapest option for summer 2026, with average flight tickets running about 17,100 rubles.
