Venezuela Imposes Entry Restrictions on Earthquake-Hit La Guaira State

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, the government has restricted entry into the heavily affected La Guaira state. According to Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, the move is aimed at controlling the flow of people into the area and preventing unauthorized individuals from entering. The decision comes as the country struggles to cope with the massive destruction caused by the two powerful earthquakes, which had magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. The death toll has risen to 920, with La Guaira state bearing the brunt of the disaster. The earthquakes have left many residential homes in ruins, damaged infrastructure and hospitals, and forced the closure of the country's main airport. Rescue efforts are ongoing in La Guaira, where the situation remains dire. The international community has begun to offer support, with Russian President Vladimir Putin extending condolences and Moscow expressing its willingness to provide aid to Caracas. As Venezuela navigates this difficult period, the government's restrictions on entry into La Guaira state are intended to facilitate the relief efforts and prevent further complications.
