United Airlines Jets Diverted, Evacuated on Consecutive Days Over Security Threats

For two days running, United Airlines passengers found themselves hurried off aircraft following separate security alerts, according to a report by Simple Flying. The incidents, while ultimately unfounded, disrupted travel and rattled nerves.

The first event occurred Saturday, April 18th. A Boeing 737 MAX, flying from Chicago's O'Hare to New York's LaGuardia, was diverted to Pittsburgh. A passenger described an unsettling scene: flight attendants were texting one another instead of speaking aloud, then began quietly searching overhead bins. The plane landed safely and everyone was evacuated.

Less than 24 hours later, on Sunday, April 19th, a Denver-to-Washington flight was delayed before departure. An Airbus A321 was emptied after a report suggested an explosive device might be on board. Ground crews re-screened all luggage and the cabin interior. In both cases, investigations found no actual danger.

The back-to-back scares highlight the immediate, disruptive protocols airlines must follow, even for threats that prove false. They come amid other travel disruptions, including a recent Ryanair incident in Europe where nearly 200 passengers were left behind after failing to check in on time.
