Turkish Summer Getaways Face Steep Price Hikes, Industry Expert Warns

ANKARA, March 10 – Russian tourists planning a summer holiday in Turkey should prepare for significantly higher costs, according to a leading figure in the country's tourism sector. Bekir Dolmuş, a tourism agent and representative for the Alanya region, stated that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East has severely disrupted Turkey's economic and tourism planning for the season.

"The idea of a budget-friendly Turkish holiday this summer is unrealistic," Dolmuş told Vacation Affairs. Regional tensions, he explained, are fueling economic uncertainty and driving up business expenses across the board. Increases in the cost of energy, logistics, and food are directly translating to more expensive vacation packages.

Compounding the issue is Turkey's persistent domestic inflation, which continues to squeeze the hotel and restaurant industries. To offset rising bills for staffing, utilities, and maintenance, accommodations have little choice but to raise their rates, passing those costs on to international visitors.

Despite the financial pressure, Dolmuş emphasized that Russian travelers remain a vital part of the market. Turkey's appeal, he noted, endures due to its well-developed resorts, popular all-inclusive system, and the abundance of direct flights. Industry data indicates that Turkish holiday prices rose an estimated 20-30% in 2025, a trend tied to inflation, soaring energy and food costs, and increased operational expenses for hotels and tour operators. This summer appears set to continue that pattern.
