Turkish Airline Cancels Russia Flights; Travelers to Be Rebooked

Turkish carrier Air Anka has abruptly canceled several flights to Russia, stranding travelers and disrupting holiday plans. The affected routes include services from the resort city of Antalya to Ekaterinburg, Sochi, Mineralnye Vody, and Ufa. In response, tour operator Anex Tourism is working to secure alternative flights with Corendon Airlines and Turkish Airlines to get Russian tourists home. According to Russia’s consumer watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, a new flight schedule is expected to be finalized by May 28, 2026, and passengers will be rebooked on comparable itineraries at no extra cost. Those already in Turkey will continue to receive hotel accommodations paid for by the tour operator. For the 378 travelers whose trips were canceled entirely, Anex is offering either alternate arrangements or immediate refunds. Rospotrebnadzor clarified that such cancellations constitute a breach of contract. Affected tourists have the right to demand full compensation for all losses, including penalties. They may also cancel their trip at any time; if there is a threat to health or safety, the operator must refund all money. In other cases, a traveler can cancel but may be liable for any actual costs already incurred by the operator or agent. The situation remains fluid as Turkish and Russian aviation authorities coordinate on permitting. Travelers are advised to contact their tour operator directly for the latest updates and to document all communication for potential claims.
