Turkey Issues Heat Advisory for Russian Tourists as Temperatures Soar

Turkish health officials are warning Russian tourists to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours as a record-breaking heatwave sweeps across the country. Dr. Dilek Şengül, a Turkish internist, told RIA Novosti that temperatures in several regions could hit 50 degrees Celsius, driven by a hot air mass moving in from Greece.
“Tourists and vulnerable groups should avoid going outside between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.,” Şengül stressed. She cautioned that prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during these hours can lead to heatstroke, dehydration, and worsening of chronic conditions. The doctor urged visitors to drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, and always use hats or sun protection.
The warning comes amid a deadly summer across Southern Europe. Earlier this week, a Russian woman died from heatstroke in Spain, where authorities report at least 900 heat-related fatalities since the start of the season. Turkish officials are urging all travelers to take the advisory seriously and adjust their daily plans accordingly.
