Turkey Heat Wave Warning: Russian Tourists Urged to Prepare for Record-Breaking Summer

ANKARA, May 31 — Russian tourists heading to Turkey this summer should brace for extreme heat, with temperatures likely to break long-standing records in several regions, according to meteorologist Ihsan Yurttas. Speaking to RIA Novosti, Yurttas said, “This summer, we expect temperatures above the climate norm across almost all of Turkey. In some areas, readings could approach or exceed historic highs. Tourists, especially our Russian guests, need to prepare for extended periods of intense heat.”
The Mediterranean coast—including Antalya, Alanya, Belek, and Side—is expected to see the highest temperatures, with thermometers regularly topping 40 degrees Celsius during July and August. High humidity along the coast will make the heat feel even more oppressive. The Aegean coast, including Bodrum, Marmaris, and Kusadasi, will also experience prolonged hot spells, with more days of extreme heat than usual.
Yurttas advises visitors to avoid direct sun exposure in the middle of the day, stay hydrated, and follow warnings from local authorities and weather services. Elderly travelers, children, and those with chronic cardiovascular conditions should take extra precautions.
