Tula Region Unveils Major Tourism Upgrades, Including Water Park and Riverfront Expansion

Governor Dmitry Milyaev announced at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that the Tula region is actively building new attractions to boost tourism. Speaking to reporters, Milyaev outlined several projects set to open over the next few years.
Next year, the region expects to complete a large cultural, sports, and entertainment complex featuring an indoor water park. “This big facility in the center of Tula will be a major draw for visitors,” Milyaev said.
By 2027, work will begin on extending the Upa River embankment. The current Kazanskaya Embankment is popular, but the river itself runs much longer. The new stretch will connect downtown to newer residential areas, spanning 14 kilometers. Milyaev confirmed construction on the first section starts in 2027.
Also in 2027, a modern hotel in central Tula is scheduled to open. The building is already finished; crews are now starting interior and exterior finishing and equipment purchases.
Two more projects are in the final design phase. The first is a large park hotel called “Yasnogoria.” Milyaev noted earlier financing hurdles with the bank have been resolved, and construction should begin this year. The second project, a separate development, is on track according to the timeline agreed with the investor last year.
The governor made these announcements on the sidelines of the forum, which runs June 3–6.
