Travel Blogger's Turkey Take: Unpredictable Prices and Persistent Hospitality

Russian travel blogger Mark Yeremin, a repeat visitor to Turkey, has detailed the local quirks he can't seem to get used to, sharing his candid observations on his personal Zen platform.

Yeremin points to volatile pricing as a primary surprise. He notes that in tourist areas, the cost of an identical drink or a portion of baklava can shift dramatically from one day to the next. "You buy it at one price today, and tomorrow you see the same baklava for three times as much, simply because there's a fancy sign next to it now," he explained.

Another adjustment, he says, is the intensity of service. The blogger described a desire to simply read a menu in peace, only to be immediately told which kebab is the city's best. At fruit stands, vendors press samples into his hands. "You stand there with that peach like someone who's almost signed a contract," Yeremin remarked, characterizing the experience as overwhelmingly eager.

Despite these cultural friction points, Yeremin remains a fan. He continues to return, drawn by what he calls Turkey's warmth, beauty, and profoundly human atmosphere. "It's a place where you can truly exhale," he concluded, "provided you set your expectations correctly."

In a previous post, Yeremin documented a British friend's disbelief upon learning about a common Russian tradition, which the foreigner initially thought was a joke.
