Travel Blogger's Global Search: Three Nations That Stood Out

After years of nomadic living, Russian travel blogger Ekaterina, who documents her journey on the 'I'm Katya | Living in Travels' blog, has shared her candid take on the most livable countries she's experienced. Her assessment moves beyond tourist snapshots to focus on daily practicality.

Her first major stop was Sri Lanka, which offered stunning nature, ocean access, and affordable surfing. Yet, daily life presented hurdles, including frequent power and water cuts, a challenging healthcare system, and intense heat and humidity.

Vietnam, by contrast, emerged as a near-ideal base for her. She highlights its affordability paired with a high standard of comfort. 'Everything just works here—good apartments, fast internet, reliable deliveries and services,' Ekaterina notes. 'It’s a country where you don't have to constantly figure out how to live.' She also praises Vietnam's diverse and inexpensive domestic travel options, from landscapes to cityscapes.

Indonesia's Bali also made her list, celebrated for its natural beauty, strong community of remote workers, excellent cafes, and food. However, she offers a reality check: the island's narrow roads, intense traffic, tourist crowds, and rising costs for rent and groceries can become draining.

Rounding out her selections were Australia, Georgia, and Turkey, each noted for their unique appeal to long-term visitors. Her perspective adds to a growing conversation among digital nomads; a separate review from an Emirates flight attendant recently championed New Zealand for its natural beauty and welcoming culture.
