Trackside Fires Halt Trains Between London and Stansted Airport

Multiple trackside fires have halted trains between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport. Greater Anglia stopped services on one line at 14:57 BST after a fire at Waltham Cross, with the London Fire Brigade asking for trains to be halted due to several blazes near the tracks. Smoke also affected M25 traffic.
Services to and from Stansted Airport, Cambridge North, Meridian Water and Hertford East faced delays, cancellations or diversions via Seven Sisters. Some 14 engines tackled a grass fire near Lea Road in Waltham Abbey; it was under control. Around 14 hectares of grassland was alight at its height. It remains unclear whether this was a separate blaze. Network Rail was working to restore services.
