Titanic Artifact Exhibition Extends Stay in Cleveland

The Great Lakes Science Center in downtown Cleveland is keeping its Titanic exhibition open longer than planned.

"TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition" opened in May and was originally scheduled to close in January. It will now run through April 27 of next year.

The exhibition features around 200 authentic artifacts recovered from the ship's wreckage, along with reconstructions of some of the ocean liner's rooms and a virtual reality experience.

RMS Titanic struck an iceberg and sank in the Atlantic in 1912, killing 1,500 people.

"The exhibition has resonated with our guests," said Kirsten Ellenbogen, president and CEO of the Great Lakes Science Center. "The artifacts create a powerful connection to the passengers and crew of RMS Titanic. We are excited to be able to extend its run here in Cleveland."

Tickets for the exhibition are sold separately from general admission to the science center, which is marking its 30th anniversary this year.
