Thinking of Getting a Tattoo at a Turkish Resort? Read This First

A warning from a Turkish cosmetologist has raised concerns for Russian tourists planning to get inked while on vacation. Merve Dokunmaz, a tattoo artist and skincare professional, told RIA Novosti that resort hotels often employ individuals who lack proper qualifications and medical training.
During peak tourist seasons, the high demand for services can lead to rushed procedures. Dokunmaz says safety protocols, including tool sterilization and the use of certified inks, are frequently overlooked. This increases the risk of infections and other complications.
She also pointed out that many travelers underestimate how Turkey's climate affects healing. High heat, humidity, and exposure to seawater can trigger inflammation, allergic reactions, and damage to the design itself.
Another concern: if something goes wrong, tourists may struggle to get medical care or hold the artist accountable.
Dokunmaz advises sticking to licensed studios, verifying an artist's credentials, and avoiding spontaneous decisions during your trip. A little caution could save you a lot of trouble.
