Thailand Rolls Out App to Speed Up Tourist Entry

Thailand is making it easier for visitors to get through immigration with a new mobile app set to launch on October 1. The app, called THIM, will allow travelers to complete their digital arrival card—known as the TDAC—right from their phone. The Russian Tour Operators Association confirmed the update, noting it will replace the current process of filling out the form on the official TDAC website.
With THIM, users can create a profile, scan their passport, and even include details for the whole family in one go. Returning visitors will be able to update their information faster for future trips. Thailand’s Immigration Bureau expects the system to cut processing time to about three minutes, helping reduce lines at border checkpoints.
Since 2025, all tourists—including those from Russia—have been required to submit the TDAC before entering the kingdom. The digital card replaced the old paper migration form that used to be handed out on planes or at the border.
For those planning to stay longer, officials previously advised wintering visitors to extend their stay by visiting an immigration office. A one-month extension costs roughly 5,000 rubles. The new app should simplify the initial entry step, but longer stays still require a visit in person.
