Teen Musicians Rescue Drowning Travel Agent on Hawaiian Beach

Two Mississippi high school band members on a trip to Hawaii ended up saving a man from the ocean — only to discover he was the very travel agent who booked their journey. Griffin Johnson and Mason Crawford were walking along Waikiki Beach in Honolulu when they heard shouts for help.

Johnson, who had worked as a lifeguard at a yacht club for three years, put his training to use. Together with Crawford, he pulled 46-year-old Pati Luna from the water. The teens had just been performing with their school orchestra when they decided to take a stroll by the shore.

Once Luna was safe on the sand, the teens realized he was the agent who had arranged their entire Hawaii trip. Grateful for their quick action, Luna offered the two students a complimentary return visit to the islands. The incident serves as a reminder that even a vacation can take an unexpected turn — and that a little skill and bravery can make all the difference.
