T-Mobile’s New Prepaid eSIM Makes Life Easier for Travelers Arriving in North America
T-Mobile has unveiled a new prepaid eSIM service aimed at international visitors who want reliable connectivity across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada without the usual hassle of hunting for a local SIM card or filling out paperwork. Called the U.S. Pass eSIM, it launches May 18 and offers unlimited talk and text across all three countries, plus 5G data with 50GB of premium speed in the United States.
The plans come in four tiers: a seven-day pass for $25, ten days for $30, fourteen days for $35, and a 30-day option for $50. Each includes a generous hotspot allowance—14GB of high-speed tethering on the week-long plan, and 50GB on the monthly version. Travelers venturing into Mexico or Canada get 5GB of high-speed data before speeds are reduced, but the simplicity of a single plan covering the entire region is a clear selling point.
Activation is digital, requiring no credit check or ID. Visitors can download the eSIM, pay, and connect within minutes. The plans also unlock T-Mobile Tuesdays perks, like discounts on fuel or restaurant deals, adding extra value for tourists attending events or spending a couple weeks in the country.
T-Mobile is also updating its outbound international passes for postpaid customers. A new one-day option provides 2GB of high-speed data and unlimited calling for $10 in over 215 countries, up from the previous 512MB for $5. Ten-day and 30-day versions offer 5GB for $35 and 15GB for $50, respectively. After high-speed data runs out, service continues at reduced speeds with unlimited texting.
Competition remains stiff. Dedicated travel eSIM providers often offer cheaper pure-data options, and traditional prepaid plans from other carriers can run under $50 a month with fewer restrictions. But T-Mobile’s new offering targets a specific need: visitors who land in the U.S. and want immediate, reliable service across North America without juggling multiple providers. With a strong network reputation and straightforward pricing, the U.S. Pass eSIM could become a go-to for business travelers, vacationers, and families visiting relatives.
