Summer Getaways Within Reach: What Russians Can Expect to Pay for a Week Abroad

Planning a summer vacation overseas? For Russian travelers eyeing a seven-to-nine-day trip, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has crunched the numbers. A decent budget-friendly holiday—including flights, three-to-four-star accommodations, and all-inclusive meals—will set you back at least 100,000 to 150,000 rubles per adult, and roughly 80,000 to 100,000 rubles per child. That’s the baseline for a comfortable escape, ATOR notes. But there are ways to stretch your ruble further. In June, for instance, a week in Turkey at a three-to-four-star hotel with all-inclusive dining and airfare from Moscow can be had for 105,000 to 110,000 rubles for two. Want a five-star on the beach? Expect to pay from 142,000 to 145,000 rubles for the same week. August prices jump at least 10%, even for budget properties. So ATOR suggests booking September trips now—they often match or beat June rates. Egypt offers similar value: three-to-four-star all-inclusive stays run about the same as Turkey, or 5,000 to 10,000 rubles more, while budget five-stars start at 120,000 to 140,000 rubles for two. For a different flavor, consider China’s Hainan Island. In late June, an eight-night stay at a five-star hotel with breakfasts can cost 108,000 to 120,000 rubles for two. Opt for three meals daily, and the price jumps to around 180,000 rubles. Thailand, meanwhile, is pricier: a week in a two-to-three-star hotel starts at 130,000 rubles for two, while five-star accommodations begin at 150,000 rubles. The takeaway? With some planning, a summer abroad is still within reach—just watch those dates and star ratings.
