St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport Warns of Flight Delays as Storms Slam City

Passengers flying through St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport should brace for possible schedule changes as a powerful storm system sweeps across the city. The airport issued a warning Saturday, saying a large thunderstorm front with gusty winds is forcing adjustments to departure times for some flights.
The rough weather has already disrupted travel for 11 incoming aircraft, which were diverted to alternate airports as conditions worsened. According to the airport’s Telegram channel, the storm is currently pounding the Moskovsky District in southern St. Petersburg, just a short distance from the terminal itself.
The downpour has been especially intense in several neighborhoods. The city’s water utility reported that in the Primorsky, Kalininsky, Kolpinsky, and Moskovsky districts, a quarter of the month’s average rainfall fell in just 20 minutes. With more thunderstorms and squalls in the forecast, travelers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
