St. Petersburg Tops Russian Poll for Romantic Getaways

St. Petersburg has been named the most romantic domestic travel destination by Russians, according to a new survey. The study, conducted by Avito Travel, found that 26% of respondents chose the northern capital for a couples' trip, citing its famous white nights and drawbridges.
The survey results align with actual booking data for Valentine's Day this year. The highest number of short-term apartment rentals were reserved in St. Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad region, followed by the Krasnodar region, Moscow and the Moscow region, Tatarstan, and the Sverdlovsk region.
Average booking costs varied significantly by location. A nightly rental in the Leningrad region averaged 3,500 rubles, compared to 5,900 rubles in the Krasnodar region and 5,100 rubles in the Moscow region.
When it comes to planning, the survey revealed a strong preference for collaboration over surprise. Only 10% of those polled preferred organizing a trip as a surprise gift. In contrast, 43% believe joint planning is the best approach, ensuring both partners' wishes are considered for the perfect romantic escape.
