St. Petersburg Prepares for Scarlet Sails Festival with Transport Restrictions
On June 27, St. Petersburg will host the Scarlet Sails festival, a traditional celebration for school graduates. To ensure a smooth and safe event, the city's transport committee has announced restrictions on vehicle movement. From 2 pm on June 27 to 1 pm on June 28, the Troitsky Bridge will be closed to traffic, while the Dvortsovy Bridge will be shut from 12 pm on June 27 to 10 am on June 29. Additionally, several other bridges, embankments, and roads in the city center will be closed to vehicles, including the Blagoveshchensky Bridge, Dvortsovaya and Admiralty Embankments, and Dvortsovaya Square. Pedestrian access to these areas will also be restricted on the day of the festival. The city committee recommends that drivers plan their routes in advance and use public transport whenever possible. The Scarlet Sails festival has been a beloved tradition in St. Petersburg since 1968, featuring a festive concert, a light and pyrotechnic show, and the iconic appearance of the 'Russia' brig under scarlet sails on the Neva River. This year's celebration promises to be just as spectacular, with thousands of graduates and spectators expected to attend.
