Southern Russia Beckons: Insider Tips for a Budget-Friendly Getaway

As the summer season kicks off, travelers are looking for ways to make the most of their vacation without breaking the bank. According to Sergey Romashkin, vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) and general director of tour operator Delfin, tourists can snag discounts of up to 30% on hotel stays in southern Russia by traveling in large groups and negotiating directly with hotels. While there are currently no discounts available for July and August, Romashkin notes that travelers can still score a 10-15% discount by booking a stay in the Big Sochi area in June. The expert also advises travelers to follow their preferred hotels on social media to stay informed about upcoming promotions, which can help stimulate demand and lead to faster booking with greater benefits. Interestingly, Anapa has seen a 40% surge in interest compared to 2025, making it the top-performing destination in Russia. In contrast, Sochi has experienced a 15% decline in demand, largely due to the unstable operation of its airport and the perception that it's a pricey resort town. However, Romashkin points out that Sochi offers a wide range of accommodation options at varying price points, with areas like Lazarevskoe offering more affordable rates than those found in Crimea and Anapa. By being flexible and open to different options, travelers can enjoy a budget-friendly and memorable vacation in southern Russia.
