Seasoned Traveler's Warning: Seven Buffet Items to Skip at Egyptian Resorts

Frequent traveler Sasha Konovalova, who has visited Egypt numerous times, is advising tourists to think twice before loading their plates at all-inclusive hotel buffets. In a detailed post on her personal blog, the Russian tourist highlighted seven specific items she believes are best avoided.
Her first warning is against brightly colored drinks served from clear plastic dispensers, suggesting they may contain artificial ingredients that could cause illness. She also urges caution with vividly colored puddings, which she describes as little more than starch, dye, sugar, and flavoring. 'Those neon greens and pinks look striking, but are they really food?' she wrote.
Konovalova expressed concern over food safety practices, noting that pizza served as a poolside snack one day often reappears on the lunch buffet the next. The same, she says, happens with complex hot dishes that are later served cold. 'Why would anyone eat peppers stewed in cream and rice once they've gone cold? It's strange and sometimes risky,' she reasoned.
Her list of items to steer clear of also includes the traditional Egyptian soup molokheya, known for its slimy texture and strong flavor, salads with bizarre combinations like cold pasta with sausage and cabbage, and unidentifiable meat rolls. 'Is it meatloaf with carrot? Is it liver? Could it be yesterday's leftovers? It's unappetizing and frankly, a bit alarming,' she concluded.
Konovalova has previously shared other drawbacks of Egyptian holidays, citing issues like windy weather, inconsistent hotel cleaning, and subpar beach conditions.
