Sakhalin Takes Lead in UAV Operator Training with New Aviation Center

A new aviation center for training unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators has opened on Sakhalin, marking a significant milestone in the region's development of drone technology. The center, established at the request of Sakhalin Region Governor Valery Limarenko, is based at the 'Pushisty' droneport, the first of its kind in Russia. The training program, which lasts three weeks, includes practical sessions and theoretical courses, culminating in a state-issued certificate of professional training. The center's instructors have experience working in special military operations zones and training personnel for law enforcement agencies. According to Governor Limarenko, the primary goal of the center is to train specialists who can ensure air defense in the field of drone technology. The region plans to expand the training program to the entire Far East, leveraging the 'Pushisty' droneport's facilities, including its material and technical base, instructors, dormitory, and canteen. The first few groups of trainees consist of law enforcement personnel, followed by civilians. The training focuses on piloting FPV drones and reconnaissance UAVs, with an emphasis on safe takeoff and landing procedures. The opening of the aviation center marks a new stage in Sakhalin's development as a leader in drone technology, building on the region's experience in implementing an experimental legal regime that allows drones to operate in the same airspace as civilian aircraft.
