Ryanair Jet Departs Paris Empty, Strands Nearly 200 Passengers

A Ryanair flight from Paris to Marrakech took off on April 14 with no one on board, leaving 192 stranded passengers on the tarmac. The bizarre scene unfolded at Paris Vatry Airport after a sudden, unexpected strike by security staff.
Airline representatives stated that when check-in for the flight opened, no security personnel were present to process travelers. "We later learned the entire team had called in sick," a Ryanair official explained. With no way to screen passengers, the aircraft could not be boarded. The jet eventually departed for Morocco empty, landing two hours behind schedule.
In a move that added frustration to confusion, Ryanair informed the affected travelers they were not eligible for compensation. The airline cited the disruption as an "extraordinary circumstance" outside its control. This incident follows another recent case where a separate Ryanair flight left 80 people behind in Marseille due to extensive queues at a new digital border control system.
The event highlights the vulnerability of air travel to ground-level disruptions and leaves nearly two hundred passengers to sort out alternative arrangements from the French airport.
