Russians Reveal Their Top Picks for Active Getaways

A recent study by Ozon Travel and SberStrakhovanie has shed light on the favorite formats of active recreation among Russian travelers. The research, obtained by Lenta.ru, shows that while 47% of travelers prefer a relaxing vacation, 43% opt for a more active experience. Among those who enjoy active recreation, a whopping 82% prefer excursion tours with packed itineraries. Hiking and trekking are the top choices for 67% of respondents, closely followed by safari adventures, ziplining, and theme parks, which appeal to 57%. Other popular activities include rafting and kayaking, chosen by 31%, diving and snorkeling, preferred by 26%, and skiing and snowboarding, enjoyed by 25%. Interestingly, the study found that women are more likely to choose active vacations than men, with 46% of female respondents opting for this type of travel, compared to 40% of men. This trend emerges as Russians are increasingly traveling within their own country in 2026, opting for domestic getaways over international trips. The findings offer a glimpse into the evolving preferences of Russian travelers, highlighting a growing appetite for exciting and action-packed experiences.
