Russians Flock to Vienna: August Hotel Bookings Surge 7.6 Times

Russian travelers have set their sights on Vienna this August, with hotel bookings in the Austrian capital skyrocketing 7.6 times compared to July, according to a new study by travel service OneTwoTrip. The data, shared with Lenta.ru, shows a dramatic shift in travel patterns as summer winds down.
Beyond Vienna, demand is climbing across a mix of international destinations. Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan saw a 3.7-fold jump in hotel reservations, while Thessaloniki, Greece recorded a 2.3-fold increase. Almaty, Kazakhstan bookings rose 2.2 times, Shanghai, China jumped 2.1 times, and Yerevan, Armenia reported a 70 percent uptick. Tokyo gained 43 percent, Hanoi 36 percent, Nice 35 percent, and Beijing 34 percent.
Domestically, Perm led the pack with a six-fold surge in hotel stays. Interest also spiked in historic and spiritual hubs: Suzdal saw reservations climb 5.5 times, Diveyevo five times, and Krasnaya Polyana four times. Analysts at OneTwoTrip noted that travelers are making the most of late summer by blending trips to Russia’s historical sites with visits to major cultural and economic centers abroad. Earlier data showed Lisbon emerged as a top solo travel destination for Russians, with single occupancy bookings hitting 71.9 percent.
