Russians Choose Batumi as Top Beach Destination, Data Shows

Russians have made Georgia's Black Sea city of Batumi their most popular destination for a beach holiday this summer, according to the online booking service Ostrovok B2B. The company's materials, reviewed by TASS, show that travel agent bookings for the city rose 1.4 times compared with last summer. The city appeals to Russian tourists with its comfortable climate, developed infrastructure, a wide range of housing and prices that are more affordable than at other foreign resorts.

The top ten destinations also include several coastal resorts in Abkhazia: Gagra, Sukhum, New Athos and Pitsunda. Ostrovok managing director Darya Kochetkova said Abkhazia is an example of how better logistics boosts demand. Travelers are no longer put off by the need to reach the resorts via Sochi, as direct flights from 13 Russian cities have made the region more accessible.

Earlier reports showed Russians were the main contributors to Georgian tourism, spending almost $387 million there in the first six months of 2026.
