Russians Can Now Visit Over 80 Countries Visa-Free, with China Adding 30-Day Stays

As the summer travel season approaches, Russian passport holders have more options than ever. According to Senator Elena Perminova, first deputy chair of the Federation Council’s international committee, Russians can visit more than 80 countries without a visa. Another 38 nations—including Egypt, India, and South Korea—offer simplified entry procedures.
“This is an impressive number that reflects steady work to ease international contacts and boost tourism, business, and cultural ties,” Perminova told reporters on Saturday.
She emphasized that travelers should still carry a valid passport, respect stay limits, and have return tickets or hotel bookings ready when required. For countries offering e-visas or visas on arrival, the process is straightforward.
Perminova highlighted a major development on the eastern front: China introduced a unilateral 30-day visa-free regime for Russians starting September 15, 2025. The trial runs until September 14, 2026, and she expressed confidence that it will be extended and eventually made permanent. “This opens new doors for business trips, tourism, and stronger humanitarian ties,” she said.
In a reciprocal move, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Chinese citizens to visit Russia visa-free for up to 30 days through September 14, 2026. Perminova called the expanding visa-free access “direct evidence of Russia’s growing international standing and the success of our diplomacy.”
