Russian Travel Industry Skeptical of Quick UAE Flight Return

MOSCOW, April 9 – Prospects for a swift resumption of passenger flights from Russia to the United Arab Emirates appear dim, according to a leading industry figure. Arthur Muradyan, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) and head of Space Travel, expressed significant doubt in recent comments.
Muradyan stated that while a chance exists, he views the likelihood as low. "Safety must be assured after any ceasefire ends, not just during the temporary period," he explained, highlighting ongoing regional tensions as the core concern.
The official noted that the Russian Transport Ministry and Foreign Ministry are monitoring the situation closely. A current ban on flights by Russian carriers to several destinations, including the UAE, is officially in place until April 17. Furthermore, the Ministry of Economic Development has advised all Russian travel firms to halt tour sales to the Middle East.
Muradyan suggested a realistic timeline for any change. Restrictions will be lifted only when security is guaranteed, he said, which would then allow sales to restart. "I believe it will take at least two to three weeks, three minimum," Muradyan added, indicating that the industry needs a stable period of calm before considering operations. For now, Russian tourists planning a UAE holiday must wait for clearer signals from both diplomats and security assessments.
