Russian Travel Blogger Praises China's Metro System, Cites Cleanliness and Order

A Russian travel blogger’s recent trip through major Chinese cities has led to a surprising verdict: the metro systems in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen surpass Moscow’s famed underground. Elena, who writes the 'Like Travel' blog on the Dzen platform, detailed her observations after extensive use of the networks.
She immediately highlighted the exceptional cleanliness and absence of unpleasant odors. Elena noted the lack of homeless individuals and attributed the orderly environment to pervasive security cameras, which she said deter anti-social behavior.
Safety and a strong sense of personal property security impressed her. According to the blogger, passengers rarely worry about theft, and forgotten items like phones or wallets are routinely returned to their owners.
Elena also commended the social etiquette. She observed that loud conversations or playing videos without headphones is uncommon, creating a quiet, respectful atmosphere for commuters, many of whom have long journeys. Boarding procedures were equally orderly, with passengers lining up to enter carriages calmly and waiting for the next train if one is full—a practice she suggested others emulate.
Her analysis offers a foreign perspective on the day-to-day functioning of China's public infrastructure, contrasting it with experiences back home. In a previous post, Elena expressed similar cultural curiosity about Chinese culinary habits.
