Russian Tourists Sheltered in Dubai as Airport Attack Halts Flights

Hundreds of Russian tourists have been placed in hotels after being stranded in Dubai following an attack on the city's international airport. The incident, involving Iranian drones, forced the closure of airspace, grounding all flights.
Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), confirmed the emergency accommodations. "It's impossible to depart; the sky is closed," Lomidze stated. "At this stage, providing shelter is the primary assistance operators can offer." The exact number of affected Russian visitors remains unclear.
The attack created scenes of chaos. Russian actress Anastasia Krylova described receiving emergency evacuation alerts on her phone and hearing loud blasts. Guests in her building took shelter in an underground parking garage. Video footage showed crowds being evacuated from the airport terminal in an orderly fashion.
A separate drone strike also hit the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, igniting a fire in a structural beam that spread across several floors. The events have transformed a premier vacation destination into a zone of uncertainty, with operators focused on basic safety as travelers wait for a resolution.
