Russian Tourists in Antalya Are Ordering Fewer Drinks This Season

The all-inclusive beach holiday may be a staple for Russian travelers, but a shift is underway in Turkey. According to Mehmet Usta Bilginer, owner of a hotel in the Antalya region, Russian guests are drinking noticeably less alcohol this year compared to previous seasons.

Bilginer points to rising holiday costs and broader economic pressures as key reasons. With tighter budgets, tourists are more careful about extras not covered by package deals. Instead of focusing on unlimited drinks, many are choosing quieter, more controlled vacations.

Another factor is the changing profile of visitors. More families and travelers seeking relaxation are arriving in Antalya, drawn to excursions, spa treatments, and active pursuits rather than bar tabs. This demographic naturally consumes less alcohol.

Concerns about drink quality have also played a role. Following reports of counterfeit alcohol incidents, some tourists are sticking to trusted brands or cutting back altogether. Health and wellness trends are further encouraging moderation.

Bilginer notes that the shift reflects a broader change in mindset. Russian tourists are becoming more rational spenders and more conscious of their lifestyle choices. For hotels, this means adapting menus and services to meet a new kind of demand—one that values experience over excess.
