Russian Tourist Returns from Thailand with Deadly Tropical Infection

A Russian tourist's dream vacation in Thailand turned into a nightmare after she contracted a rare and potentially deadly tropical infection. According to reports from TASS, the woman was diagnosed with Whitmore's disease, also known as melioidosis, a condition for which there is no vaccine. If left untreated, the infection can be fatal. The tourist was hospitalized in serious condition upon her return home. It is believed that she may have been exposed to the infection during her visits to various attractions in Thailand, including an elephant farm. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with traveling to certain regions. Just recently, another Russian tourist was hospitalized in intensive care after being bitten by a mosquito while on vacation in Africa, and was later diagnosed with malaria. The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being has confirmed the diagnosis, highlighting the importance of taking necessary precautions when traveling abroad.
