Russian Tourist Finds Tenerife's Winter 'Eternal Summer' Less Than Advertised

A Russian traveler spent a winter holiday on the popular Spanish island of Tenerife and came away disappointed, sharing her impressions with the portal «Тонкости туризма» in a review published on the «Дзен» platform.
The promised eternal summer, she said, turned out to be fake: the water in the pools was freezing, and the sun kept disappearing behind heavy clouds. Instead of white sand, the beach had gray volcanic sand that left her feet black.
She joked that anyone wanting a photo by the water would have to crop the shot or zoom in beforehand so their feet stayed out of frame - wet legs coated in black grime, she said, are beyond even the latest version of Photoshop. The result, she quipped, is a photo of «a chimney sweep on vacation.»
The tourist also complained that in January it gets dark on the island at six in the evening, meaning visitors need entertainment beyond the beach. She concluded it is better to save up and spend two weeks in summer at a real sea with a proper beach and warm pools.
