Russian Tourism to Vietnam Nearly Triples in a Year, Ambassador Reports

MOSCOW, Feb 20 – The number of Russian tourists traveling to Vietnam soared to 690,000 in 2025, a figure nearly three times higher than the previous year, according to Russia's ambassador to the country, Gennady Bezdetko. In an interview, the ambassador pointed to Vietnam's warm, dry winter weather in the south as a primary draw for Russians escaping the cold.

Bezdetko credited the surge to a 45-day visa-free travel agreement between the nations, calling it a major factor. He also emphasized the value and quality of services available to visitors. "Vietnam offers a very favorable attitude toward our citizens, ensuring a proper level of safety and comfort," the ambassador stated.

Tourism infrastructure has expanded significantly in recent years, he noted, catering to a wide range of budgets and preferences. The growth of a Russian-speaking environment—including guides, services, and communities—has made the destination more accessible and appealing.

The travel trend appears reciprocal. Bezdetko clarified that the flow of Vietnamese tourists to Russia is also rising, evidenced by a substantial increase in electronic visas issued. Vietnamese visitors, he said, show the most interest in Moscow, with many also choosing St. Petersburg and the historic cities of the Golden Ring.
