Russian Pensioners Increasingly Choose Asian Countries for Retirement

Russian retirees are showing a growing preference for spending their later years in Asia, with Thailand, Vietnam, and China emerging as the top destinations, according to the Telegram channel Baza. Over the past three years, demand for long-term tours has risen by 40 percent. Packages lasting from 21 to 90 or more days start at 200,000 rubles and can reach up to 900,000 rubles. Travel agents note that Russians often prefer booking accommodation directly, without intermediaries.
The trend is being driven by millennials who are sending their parents to the ocean instead of traditional villages or country houses, aiming for a warmer "meeting with old age." Pensioners from the Far East, Siberia, and Central Russia are especially active in traveling to Asia.
Families choose these destinations for their elderly relatives due to the favorable climate and the chance for a more active lifestyle. The resorts in Thailand, Vietnam, and China are also developing amenities comfortable for Russians, including Russian-speaking neighborhoods, well-established medical services, and low prices.
Earlier, a Russian travel blogger visited Europe and described some habits of local pensioners as "worth borrowing," noting that European women do not hide their age and proudly leave their gray hair uncolored.
