Russian Lawmakers Propose Tax Break for Summer Camp Trips

In a bid to make summer camps more affordable for families, Russian lawmakers have proposed a tax deduction for trips to all summer camps. The proposal, put forward by the 'New People' faction in the State Duma, aims to expand the list of social tax deductions to include expenses related to purchasing tickets and paying for services that organize children's leisure and health improvement activities. Currently, tax deductions are only available for expenses related to educational programs. The proposed law would allow parents to claim a tax deduction for their child's summer camp expenses, regardless of whether the camp offers an educational program. This would include costs such as accommodation, food, cultural and recreational activities, and transportation to and from the camp. According to the lawmakers, the proposed law would help reduce the financial burden on families, make summer camps more accessible, and increase transparency in the industry. It would also encourage parents to choose reputable organizations that are included in regional registers of children's leisure and health improvement facilities. The proposal has been submitted to the government for consideration, and if passed, could make a significant difference for families planning to send their children to summer camp.
