A Russian family of three has snapped up the most expensive tour package for the May 2026 holidays, paying 9.2 million rubles for a 13-day trip to the Maldives. That sum, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), could buy two brand-new Volkswagen Tharu SUVs. The family will stay at a luxury resort from May 4 to May 17, a favorite among wealthy travelers. ATOR’s analytics service shared the details with TASS, noting that the booking tops the list of premium reservations for the period. Other high-end bookings include a 4.5 million-ruble Maldives package for five people and a 2.5 million-ruble trip to Turkey for a group of five. Turkey dominates the luxury segment this May, accounting for 44 to 94 percent of all premium requests, with top-tier hotels in Antalya, Belek, and Kemer leading the way. Egypt ranks second and Vietnam third. Earlier, travel planning service OneTwoTrip reported that the most expensive bookings for April 2026 included a 1.5 million-ruble Maldives getaway for two Russians. The data underscores a growing appetite for high-cost vacations among Russian travelers, with the Maldives and Turkey emerging as top choices for those willing to spend big.
