RIA NovostiSunday, June 28, 2026

In a demonstration of their growing military cooperation, Russian and Chinese strategic bombers have conducted a joint air patrol over the seas of Japan, the East China Sea, and the western Pacific Ocean. The exercise involved Russian Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers and Chinese H-6K strategic bombers, which were escorted by Russian Su-30SM and Su-35S fighter jets along their route. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, all aircraft participating in the joint patrol have safely returned to their home airfields. This joint operation highlights the deepening ties between the Russian and Chinese militaries, as they seek to expand their reach and demonstrate their capabilities in the region. The patrol was conducted over international waters, but its scope and scale are likely to be closely watched by neighboring countries and other regional powers. By completing this joint exercise, Russia and China have sent a strong signal about their commitment to cooperation and their ability to project power beyond their borders.
